In Memory of Pauline Grace Harrington
First Baptist Church Halifax extends sincere sympathy to Gwendolyn MacLean and family in the loss of her aunt, Pauline Harrington, of Lachine, Quebec on March 9.HARRINGTON, Pauline Grace (nee Turner) At the age of 94, Lachine, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2013 at the Lachine Hospital. Born in Lower Cornwall, Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia on December 27, 1918, she was predeceased by her parents, Whitman and Grace (Burke) Turner, and her stepparents, Gerald and Gladys Harris of Antigonish. After attending Mount St. Bernard College, Antigonish, Pauline moved to Montreal where she met her husband, Donald Harrington. She was predeceased by Don in 1978 and their beloved daughter, Susan, in 2007. Pauline was a member of St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Lachine. Her love and flair for fashion was well known through her association with Morgan’s and, later, The Bay, in Montreal. She was a great lover of animals, especially cats and cared for many rescued pets during her life. Pauline enjoyed knitting and sewing, having created many beautiful items for her family. Her garden was a great source of enjoyment and pride. Being generous and kind, guests were always made to feel welcome in her home. Pauline was known for her amazing home cooking which she always shared with her family and neighbours, her speciality being her apple pies. She was fortunate to live in a community surrounded by neighbours whom she cared about and who cared about her. Pauline will be sadly missed by her many friends and relatives. She is survived by her sister Noreen Peers, Pugwash, NS. She was predeceased by sisters Marie Demone, Frances O’Hara, Madeline Romard, and Ruth Taylor, and brothers, Vincent, Bruce, Brice, and Robert Turner. Also left to mourn are many nieces and nephews. The family would like to recognize the staff of the Floralies Residence Lachine for their devoted attention and compassionate care to Pauline during her last month. A memorial service for Pauline will be held on Friday, April 12, 2013, at 1:30 PM, at the J.J. Cardinal Funeral Home, 2125 rue Notre-Dame, Lachine (514) 639-1511.
