Wolastoquey Language

Wolastoquey Language
On July 15th, I & a few choir members attended Jeremy Dutcher’s fundraiser for a new Wolastoqey language school in Fredericton, opening this September. Lisa Dutcher (Jeremy’s mom) is the founder, curriculum team leader, and will make it her life’s work to teach young people the language.  The Wolastoqey language is endangered, as there are very few speakers left due to the residential school trauma experienced by the elder community.
Jeremy‘s work in music as an artist has transformed him into a leader, an inspiration for first nation young people, and gives him a social platform that we are all proud of. Speak to me after church any time to find out more about her enlightening experience at Jeremy‘s fundraiser.
Kehkimin means both teaching and learning, please consider donating directly to the school (click here to donate).
