Children and Youth Faith Formation

We hope everyone has a fantastic start to the school year! School Year faith formation programs for children and youth resume on September 6.

For all programs, please remember we need parents/guardians to complete registration forms. These forms are part of FBCH’s Plan to Protect Policy:

Crèche Care
Children ages 12 months—5 years

Early Childhood Educator: Hudson Currie
We welcome Hudson Currie who is beginning his studies at MSVU in Child and Family Studies. Hudson will be in the creche by 10:15am to care for children during worship and when we have congregational activities that require childcare (he can also be available for Sunday choir practice if needed). Children in Grade Primary can remain in crèche or transition to Godly Play. Parents can talk with program staff and volunteers to determine when their child is ready to begin Godly Play activities.

Please note:

• Parents should leave a cell number that Hudson can text.
• Staff will not change diapers or assist with toileting other than helping children wash hands. Parents/guardians will receive a text if assistance is needed.
• Children under 12 months can stay in the creche if a parent/guardian stays with them.
• If no children are in the creche by 10:45, Hudson will join the Godly Play team as an extra support.

We are happy to welcome back the team that led the Godly Play program last year! There will be a monthly rotation designed to help children engage fully in the life of the church. Music education is designed to prepare them to join in singing and music-making in worship. Godly Play stories and response time invite them into the biblical story, forming children to make meaning from and explore our faith story. Justice Sundays are led by groups in the church responsible for helping us put faith into action by serving others.

Please note, children age out of Godly Play after completing Grade 6. Our hope is that Godly Play has prepared them to join the community in worship, the primary practice of our faith tradition.

Youth Group meets on the last Sunday of the month following worship. We have lunch and then focus our time together on putting faith into action through projects like Can-struction and preparing a meal at the Ronald McDonald House. As we engage this work, we are reminded of the call to follow Jesus—our motivation for loving our neighbours. We aim to finish each session by 2:00pm.

Just Lunch
Entire Community
First Sunday of the Month (Communion Sundays)
While open to the entire congregation, the lunches are planned with families and children in mind. If there are programs, they are short and designed to be engaging across generations.
