Experience the rich tapestry of the Philippines as they serenade you with heartfelt folk tunes, timeless love songs, lively novelty hits, and stirring patriotic melodies.
On April 26, an unthinkable tragedy happened during the Lapu-Lapu Day Filipino Festival in Vancouver, and left the community in shock, anger, disbelief and grief over the senseless death of 11 people, and the 30 who were injured. We will never understand why these horrible tragedies happen, but we as a community can do something to show our sympathy and support for the bereaved families of the victims. The Harana Singers and the Filipino-Canadian community in Halifax are part of the global Filipino community, and it is our custom to help everyone who is in need, and gather our collective efforts to help in any way we can. We call it “Bayanihan”. The beauty of Bayanihan is that it is not unique to only Filipinos, but it is existent in all the different peoples of the world as well. It is our human nature.
Admission is By Donation and all proceeds will go to United Way BC’s Kapwa Strong Fund, which is dedicated to help with the Lapu-Lapu Day Festival Tragedy.
Please join us on Sunday, June 29, at 2pm, here at First Baptist Church Halifax. Thank you.
