Sacred Silence Sacred Sounds

Sacred Silence Sacred Sounds

Please join us for Sacred Silence Sacred Sounds:

Wednesday, April 15th at 7:00 PM

Please join us for a special evening of hauntingly beautiful music and soul-nurturing readings and prayers. Bass clarinetist Jeff Reilly and pianist/organist Peter-Anthony Togni will share their unique, reflective and lyrical sound, which has the precision and clarity found in any classical ensemble, but also taps into the expressive freedom found in the improvisational gestures of contemporary jazz.

As the Blackwood trio, along with cellist, India Gailey (who is now away studying), they have toured Europe, Asia and North America, performing in international venues such as Shostakovich Hall in St. Petersburg, the Shanghai Oriental Arts Center, St. John’s Smith Square in London, and in Paris’s Église Saint-Séverin As a duo, Peter and Jeff have recorded award-winning chamber and string orchestra works featuring bass clarinet on the ECM, Warner Classics and ATMA Classique labels, garnering 4 JUNO nominations between them. With their explorations, improvisations and collaborations with Andrew Noseworthy, Nicole Lizée, Yaz Lancaster, Philip Glass and more, they continue to explore new ways in which music can be seen, felt, and heard.

April 15th: PPeter-Anthony Togni (Piano/Organ) and Jeff Reilly (Bass Clarinet)

May 20th: Sam Wilson (Guitar) Andrew Jackson (Trombone)

Hope you can join us!

Here’s what people are saying about Sacred (formerly Jazz Vespers):

“The Jazz Vespers service provided me with a reflective and pensive moment, finding meaning and purpose in myself,  connecting more closely with God and others.”  -Dahrl

“In a time of global distress and individual uneasiness, to say nothing of the pressures of “too many things to do and too little time”, the Vespers hour provided a quiet and healing retreat where life was reduced to thoughts of remembrance of the past, reassessment of the present and refreshment for the future.”    -Gisela

The Greg Ritchie Trio (Jan 2024)
