Last year’s event, ‘Songs from the Heart’, was such a success we’re doing it again. We want to show you our New Kitchen (made possible with support from so many people), and, we want to enjoy some time together!
Featuring Guest Artist Dan MacKinnon
About Dan…
Blessed with a gorgeous, room-shaking baritone voice and the keen insight of a natural storyteller, Nova Scotian folksinger/songwriter/solo guitarist Dan McKinnon has carved out a definitely unique musical path. His sharply observed and passionately delivered work brings alive the history and spirit of our collective past, inspiring audiences in both the Old and New Worlds, and introducing an unexpected freshness to the neo-traditional roots and familiar love songs. “You can hear from the moment he steps out in front of an audience, from the Rebecca Cohen to the Halifax Brewery Market, that he’s one of the most engaging and authentic performers on the Maritime Music Scene.”

MORE ABOUT OUR REFUGEE COMMITTEE
By: Scott Sterns, Chair Refugee Committee
FBCH has been committed to helping refugees for years. We have sponsored refugee families and provide support and assistance to those who need it most.
The Refugee Committee has just sponsored a mom and her youngest son from a refugee camp. They arrived in July 2025. As part of the sponsorship, we pay their rent and living expenses for a year. There are three other sons, aged 20, 19, 17, left behind. They are refugees, with no home and they need our help. We are raising funds to sponsor the three boys, and pay their rent and living expenses for a year after arrival in Canada.
Long-time church member, Doris Hilchey, generously left the church a significant gift for ‘Outreach’. The Church has agreed to use Doris Hilchey’s fabulous gift and match every dollar the Refugee Committee raises up to $30,000. This means every dollar donated to sponsor the three boys is matched, dollar for dollar, by the Doris Hilchey Gift. That will cover rent and living expenses for a year!
When making your donation decisions, please think of the Refugee Committee.
MORE ABOUT THE FBCH AUXILIARY
By: Peggy Dunbar, President Auxiliary
For close to 125 years the Auxiliary has supported our Church, its members and community groups. While our membership numbers have diminished over the years, we continue to provide fellowship and friendship to many; visiting shut-ins, delivering flowers, sending cards and notes, catering to receptions/celebrations of life, and creating opportunities to ‘gather together’. Fundraising remains a mainstay of what we do to support a number of initiatives in the church, as best we can. Most are familiar with our Mini Sales, our Annual Plant Sale, and our Christmas Cookie Boxes, and in the not-too-distant past, our famous Christmas Tea and Sale and New to You/Yard Sales. We were thrilled last year to provide a significant donation in support the New Kitchen and Community Room, and in recent years past we have supported, among many others, the elevator, church doors, communication/sound equipment, curtains and carpets, furniture, stoves and fridges, roof and organ repair, etc. We have also provided funds to Community Outreach to disperse on our behalf, and to other organizations such as Laing House, Parker Street Furniture Bank, and Coverdale. This year we are looking to replace the kitchen dishwasher, as it really has been an old faithful and needs a well-deserved rest.
DONATIONS
If you make a donation during the event, a tax receipt will be issued at year-end for donations over $20.00.
We will be able to accept, cash, cheques, or credit card payments during the event.
