New Kitchen Fundraising Campaign
Purpose: To secure funds to complete our New Kitchen and Community Room in 2025
Funding Goal: $230,000 (includes HST)
Background: Since end of May of 2024, FBCH has been without its Main and Parlour Kitchens. As we prepared to accommodate our new tenant, the kitchens and other areas in the church were decommissioned. We are excited about these developments, but nine (9) months has been a long time, and we miss our kitchen! A number of our programs and activities have been paused, including fellowship, fundraising, and partnership opportunities. No more Valentine’s Dinners, Senior’s Luncheons, or Harvest Suppers. No opportunities to come together for potluck luncheons or breakfasts, to make muffins or special casseroles for St. Andrew’s Sunday Suppers, or to just enjoy each-others company and good conversation over ‘that special time’ in the kitchen.
So, the time is now. There is a sense of urgency to get ourselves back on track, to look to the future and all a New Kitchen and Community Room will offer.
Look for regular Facebook/Instagram posts, ‘stories from the kitchen’ during Sunday services and regular updates on progress toward our financial goal.

About Dan McKinnon
Blessed with a gorgeous, room-shaking baritone voice and the keen insight of a natural storyteller, Nova Scotian folksinger/songwriter/solo guitarist Dan McKinnon has carved out a definitely unique musical path. His sharply observed and passionately delivered work brings alive the history and spirit of our collective past, inspiring audiences in both the Old and New Worlds, and introducing an unexpected freshness to the neo-traditional roots and familiar love songs. “You can hear from the moment he steps out in front of an audience, from the Rebecca Cohen to the Halifax Brewery Market, that he’s one of the most engaging and authentic performers on the Maritime Music Scene.

Donation Receipt Information:
You may have heard that the Federal Government has confirmed an extension of the deadline for charitable donations for 2024 tax returns to February 28, 2025. This may not ultimately become law. It is possible therefore that eligible charitable gifts made before February 28, 2025 can be claimed on 2024 tax returns. This excludes share donations.
To help us accommodate the varying needs of donors, we will issue a separate receipt for the period January 1 to February 28th by request only for those who may wish to make donations that may ultimately be allowable for 2024 tax returns. Please send your request to accounting@fbchalifax.ca with subject line “Feb Receipt Request” no later than February 28th, 2025. All receipts requested for the Jan-Feb 2025 will be processed by the end of the first week of March.
